JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE: PARENT PARTNER                     EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Program Manager      REVISION DATE:

 

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Parent Partner serves as a liaison for parent involvement and offers support in whatever way is most helpful to each individual family.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Serve as parent representative at program activities.
  2. Participate  in all family advocate activities and training.
  3. Assist  in development of support groups for parents.
  4. Provide direct assistance to families as needed.
  5. Provide  peer support to families.
  6. Link families with appropriate services, advocating for them when necessary.
  7. Serve as role model and advocate for children/families involved in the      wraparound process.
  8. Promote  family-centered practice strategies including family decision-making.
  9. Assist with crisis intervention as needed including being available to      client/families after hours and on weekends.
  10. Comply with HIPAA requirement for privacy and access of records.
  11. Participate in collaborative cross-system teaming and community-based service      delivery.
  12. Culturally  sensitive to each client/family and individual needs and customs as      appropriate.
  13. Actively  participate and attend in-service presentations, mandatory meetings, and      trainings as scheduled.
  14. Utilize  agency’s vehicles, when needed..
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Must  be a parent or “relative” of a special needs child..
  2. High School Diploma; some college preferred.
  3. CA Driver’s License and clean driving record for insurance.
  4. Spanish speaking required

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 

  1. Ability to be flexible and multitask, handling several tasks simultaneously.
  2. Ability to work well as part of the Wraparound team.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  4. Ability to prepare effective written materials including correspondence and reports.
  5. Ability  to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  6. Experience working with multiethnic/racial clients and communities.
  7. Ability to stay focused on duties and projects and get them completed on deadline as assigned.
  8. Proficiency at computer required.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

 

  1. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  2. Some work is performed within community, such as schools and homes.
  3. Limited physical effort required.
  4. Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating      dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.
